IPA: When the three of us bought [Client Business Name] we knew that the previous owner did not try to run the business the way it should be run because her interest lay in other places. So we knew the mistakes she was making and we were convinced that we could take this company and make all three of us a great living and make it one of the top air conditioning and heating companies in town. So we mortgaged every thing we owned and put it all on the line and bought the company. The next day we rolled up our sleeves and went to work trying to achieve our goals. We thought we had the world by the tail. Unfortunately after sixteen months we came to the realization that it had us. At this point that we felt like we were drowning and struggling desperately to find a life jacket to stay afloat. To the point of considering selling the building and trying to find a much smaller one with a cheaper note, and cutting some of the employee benefits. Then entered [IPA Consultant] of IPA to whom we completely opened our books to and exposed all the finances of the company. After looking at everything for a day [IPA Consultant] came back and told us we really were sitting on the gold mine that we had originally thought we had. He made us realize that we were letting the business run us instead of us running the business. We really liked what he had to say and even though we were skeptical and really thought there was no way we could afford this we also realized there was no way we could afford not to. So we agreed to let IPA come in and help us. Then entered [IPA Consultant] and [IPA Consultant] who dove even deeper into the books and really started showing us hard evidence to prove that we could really improve our financial situation and make this company what we wanted it to be. [IPA Consultant] also evaluated our situation to determine who would be the best person with IPA to bring in to help achieve our goals and to fulfill all of the commitments that IPA had made to us. Then entered our hero [IPA Consultant] who walked in the door and rolled up his sleeves and said ok guys lets go to work improving our company. He immediately went to work and the first thing he realized was that we were under capitalized and that had a strangle hold on us. So we started meeting with banks and within a week that problem went away. [IPA Consultant] taught us that debt wasn't a bad thing and that good debt would actually remove our stranglehold. But the main thing he taught us was the importance of numbers. Numbers drive everything in business and you have to know how to read the numbers and how to us them to run and improve your business. Then he started looking into the inner workings of the company and realized that we needed to shift roles and job duties so we could capitalize on everyone's strengths. [IPA Consultant] then helped us to implement new programs in the company. The first thing we did was to define everyone's job title and description of their job duties. Then we worked on how to evaluate each position and how to be able to use that evaluation to give incentive bonuses to our employees. This will help reduce the turnover and also help get our current employees excited about their jobs enough to help recruit other employees. There has been a noticeable improvement just in the first three weeks. Then we worked on the paper work and made everyone realize how important their role is in turning in the proper paper work in a timely manner. [IPA Consultant] then went to work on sales and marketing and really drove home the point that this position drove all the numbers. He worked on our job bidding process and determined that the way we were bidding jobs was either losing money or just breaking even on most jobs. He then implemented a bidding procedure that was not only more efficient but was also more profitable to the bottom line. He also Implement a tracking system so that we could track jobs to ensure that we were making a profit and not just guessing at it. This has made a positive difference in this area. [IPA Consultant] was the best thing that happened to us since buying the company. The things mentioned above are just a small portion of what he implemented and taught us. There are so many other numerous things he taught us that that it would take pages to tell you. [IPA Consultant] has made it so enjoyable for all of us to come to work each day and has shown us that our future is the brightest it has ever been. I guess the best way to sum it up is that he showed us the light at the end of the tunnel and now we know it’s not the train that's going to run us over. Thank You so much to [IPA Consultant] and the entire staff at IPA for their dedication and commitment to making us the company we are going to become in the future.
